Commercial Mania

I love streaming my favorite shows on Hulu.com, and the best part is bypassing all those LONG commercial breaks. But this got me thinking; how much money do companies pay for TV ad spots? Well for one, American Idol charges $642,000 for a 30 second commercial while Dancing With the Stars sold ad time at $209,000 per spot. And tipping the charts of advertising dollars was the Lost series finale, with spots selling at $900,000for a 30 second commercial!

Here’s a list of some other shows and prices for 30-second commercial spots:

The Simpsons: $201,920

Two and a Half Men: $226,635

The Biggest Loser: $128,295

So You Think You Can Dance: $132,558

Glee: $127,350

The Office: $191,236

Flash Forward: $175,724

V: $110,450

How I Met Your Mother: $145,106
