//ABOUT US
History
1st United Services Credit Union has a long history of service in the Bay Area and has the distinction of being one of the first credit unions in the State of California. The credit union was originally founded in 1932 as City & County Employees' Credit Union in order to serve Alameda County Employees. After merging with ALFA Federal Credit Union in 1996, the name 1st United Services Credit Union was chosen to more accurately describe the combined civil and military service resulting from the merger.
In 2001, 1st United Services Credit Union became a community chartered credit union, meaning membership is open to anyone who resides, works, or attends school in Alameda or Contra Costa Counties, CA. We currently offer 11 branches located throughout the East Bay.
What is a Credit Union?
Credit unions are not for profit organizations, unlike banks, which are in the business of making money for their shareholders. Membership entitles you to share as a "financial partner." Rather than paying stockholders, credit unions return earnings to members in the form of higher dividends and lower loan rates. This means you can enjoy low cost loans and higher yields on savings and investment options.
